St. Robert Bellarmine Church
Est. 1950
With the Growth of the city of Euclid after World War II creating "standing room only" conditions at the local parishes, Archbishop Hoban decided a new parish was in order. On September 27, 1950 Fr. McCann recieved his letter of appointment and on October 4th came the official Decree of Erection and thus a parish was born. The first Mass was celebrated at the Lake Theatre on October 15. At this first Mass Fr. McCann addressed his flock "It is not without a great deal of anxiety that all of us face the task of establishing the new parish of St. Roberts. It will not be an easy thing, but with all of us, pastor and people, pulling together, we will, in time, accomplish the work assigned to us..."
On the first Sunday of June 1953, the first mass was celebrated at what we know as St. Robert Bellarmine. A lot of hard work, "pastor and people pulling together", built this parish. These words still ring true today as "pastor and people pulling together" keep this parish strong. Join us.
